October 2006:

Showcaze NextWave™ is launched

Showcaze is pleased to announce the launch of its brand new initiative called the Showcaze NextWave (SNW) - a collaborative effort with the fashion industry to create an online fashion capital of the world.

The SNW is is all about improving and streamlining the regular interaction between designers and buyers (both corporate and high street). Hence, it will provide a more effective alternative to e-Commerce or e-Shops, which are proving to be an unsuitable sales channel for fashion designers, incurring a substantial admin and cost overheads, particularly for independent and emerging designers.

Whilst we recognise that there are some well-known exceptions, the experience from a limited number of success stories (such as Net-a-Porter.com) appear to indicate that fashion businesses must take a longer term view with their online retailing initiatives; i.e. 5-8 years as opposed to the more usual 1-3 years to achieve a sustainable business and return on investment.

Showcaze has completed the background work on SNW, with focused input from our industry partners (PR agents, designers, buyers, business support organisations, etc). As part of the "1st Wave", we will be introducing additional new features on Showcaze.co.uk over the coming months.

Showcaze will release further details as each new feature becomes live on Showcaze.co.uk.
